NDC Grassroots Members Set to Embark on Nationwide Demonstration Over Job Opportunities; Notifies Key Stakeholders [Read More...]

Grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are set to embark on a nationwide demonstration to demand improved job opportunities and greater inclusion within the party.

Organizers of an upcoming nationwide demonstration by grassroots members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have formally notified key state and party institutions ahead of the planned action.

According to the Grassroots President, Isaac Anane M. K. Gracious, convener; and the coordinating team, official communication has been sent to the Office of the President, the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament, the NDC Party Leadership, the Ghana Police Service (Accra Regional Command), and Selected Media Houses.

The move, they say, underscores their commitment to due process and a peaceful exercise of democratic rights.

In a statement to supporters, the organizers emphasized that the demonstration is being planned within the confines of the law, describing participants as “law-abiding party members and responsible citizens of Ghana.” They added that further details regarding the date, routes, and specific demands of the protest will be communicated in due course.

The planned demonstration is expected to draw participation from a wide spectrum of the party’s grassroots base, including branch executives, members of the party’s task force, polling agents, and loyal supporters who have contributed significantly to the party’s activities over the years.

Organizers say the demonstration is particularly aimed at addressing growing concerns among grassroots members who feel sidelined despite their active roles in the party’s activities. They argue that many loyal members who contribute significantly during elections are often left out when opportunities arise.

At the heart of the demonstration are calls for reforms within the party structure. Key issues raised include the need for greater grassroots inclusion, improved opportunities for loyal members, and an end to what organizers describe as the “used and dump” culture, where dedicated supporters feel abandoned after serving the party.

The convener is urging all committed grassroots members across the country to unite for what is being described as a historic and peaceful demonstration. The message to supporters is one of solidarity, hope, and collective action to push for change and a more inclusive political environment within the party.

Organizers remain confident that the demonstration will proceed peacefully and serve as a platform for constructive engagement, reinforcing democratic participation and internal accountability within the NDC.
