Police restore calm after violent cutlass clash at Akyem Oda (Watch Video)
The Ghana Police Service has restored calm at Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region following a violent confrontation involving a group of young men wielding cutlasses at the New Station area.
According to a statement issued by the Eastern South Regional Police Command, officers swiftly responded after disturbing videos of the clash surfaced online, showing the men attacking each other openly in public.
Police investigations later led officers to two suspects who were receiving treatment at separate hospitals in the town for injuries sustained during the incident.
One of the suspects, 30-year-old George Okyere, was found at the Oda Jubilee Hospital with a deep cut on his forehead and a severed finger on his right hand.
Another suspect, identified as Paul Pascalele, was also receiving treatment at the Akyem Oda Government Hospital for a deep cut on his right hand.
The police further confirmed the arrest of a third suspect, Evans Adayele, who was apprehended from his hideout to assist with ongoing investigations.
Authorities say efforts are underway to track down and arrest other individuals connected to the violence to ensure they face justice.
