16 persons drown in Volta Lake after boat on which they were traveling capsized.

Sixteen (16) individuals believed to be of Fulbe extraction who were migrating from Prang, in the Bono-East Region, to the central Gonja District of the Savannah Region have died after a boat on which they were traveling capsized on the Volta Lake.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, April 8, between Adavukpe and Sikakpe in the Central Gonja District. The victims include women and children. So far, nine bodies have been recovered, while search efforts continue for the remaining seven.

Preliminary reports indicate that the boat capsized due to a slight wind.
