Price of Sachet Water Set to Increase (Check Out Date…)
The National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) has announced an increase in the price of sachet water, effective Monday, April 6, 2026, citing rising production costs and ongoing global supply chain challenges.
According to the association, the new maximum retail price for a bag of sachet water will be GH¢15, while the ex-truck and distribution point price has been set at GH¢10 per bag.
Industry representatives attribute the price adjustment primarily to the escalating cost of raw materials—particularly polymers used in packaging—which have surged due to international tensions and supply disruptions linked to the Iran–Israel–USA conflict.
NASPAWAP also highlighted significant increases in transportation and logistics expenses. Rising fuel prices and higher freight charges for imported materials have added pressure on producers, making it difficult to sustain previous pricing without affecting supply or operational viability.
The association emphasized that the adjustment is necessary to ensure the continued production and distribution of safe, clean drinking water, a daily necessity for millions of Ghanaians.
Consumers have been urged to be understanding, as many of the cost pressures stem from factors beyond local control. While acknowledging the potential impact on household budgets, NASPAWAP stressed that compliance with the new pricing structure is essential to maintain market stability and fairness.
Authorities have pledged to closely monitor the rollout of the new prices to prevent overpricing and protect consumers.
The announcement comes amid broader concerns about the rising cost of essential goods in Ghana. However, industry leaders maintain that the revised pricing reflects current economic realities and is crucial for sustaining the sachet water production sector.
