GMet warns of thunderstorms and rains across Southern Ghana
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a warning of thunderstorms and rainfall across parts of southern Ghana following the movement of a rainstorm system from the Gulf of Guinea.
According to the Agency’s latest update, a moderate rainstorm located offshore between Benin and Togo has generated rain-bearing clouds over southeastern Ghana.
The system is currently causing localized thunderstorms and rainfall of varying intensity across the Volta, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions. GMet further indicated that these weather conditions are expected to extend to additional areas within these regions before spreading to parts of the Central and Ashanti regions.
The Agency cautioned that low-lying communities remain at risk of flooding as the rains continue and urged residents to take appropriate precautions. It also warned that strong winds may accompany the storm, posing further risks to life and property.
